
Examination of objections to the payment of a tax for the construction of the new Limassol cemetery in the case of:
a) Non-Greek-Orthodox or atheists
Objections are accepted on receipt of a written declaration by the citizen, with no requirement to provide additional evidence.b) Intended Cremation
Objections are accepted only from those presenting a copy of the declaration that they have submitted to the relevant District Officer stating their desire to be cremated, as per The Cremation Law (53(1)2016).c) Applications for a reduced amount for financial reasons
Objections will be examined by exception by each Municipal Council and a reduction of 25% will be granted only to recipients of the Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI).d) Temporary Residents and Students
Objections will be accepted upon proof of such identity.e) Burial plot owners
Objections will be accepted and exemption to cemetery rates granted provided that the taxpayer presents a deed of ownership for the burial plot and a certificate signed by a notary public identifying their relationship to the plot. Citizens who have already paid the tax will receive a refund upon presentation of the above documents.
