Τitle: My Square
Duration: April 2021 - May 2022
Application Code: 2020-3-CY02-ESC31-001997
The project was co-designed in collaboration with the Youth Volunteers Team, the Open School of Mesa Geitonia, and the local community. Its objective was to revitalize a semi-abandoned square with a park and a theatrical scene. Individuals from various age groups and backgrounds actively participated in the design process, taking on roles and responsibilities for plan development and the activation of public space. Engaging each generation not only during the co-design phase but also throughout the project's implementation increased the sense of belonging, resulting in the square's revitalization and a reduction in vandalism. The project has been selected as one of the finalists for the New European Bauhaus (NEB) Prizes 2023.
Mesa Geitonia Municipality expresses its gratitude to the participants for their valuable contribution to the implementation of the project. Youth Volunteers Team: Aristi Pavlou, Konstantina Chrysostomou, Georgios Makris, Argiro Aristidou, Chrystalla Theodoulou. Coach: Angelos Emmanouel.
